The recent Canadian wildfires of June 2023 were beyond words and very devasting. The Washington post mentioned that "The outbreak of so many blazes across the country at this time of year is not normal." That is really concerning. The smoke from the wildfires even traveled as far as Maryland which is about 1794 miles away. I live in Maryland and have never seen anything like it in my lifetime. The air quality was very poor causing the area to be in a code red at a 151 AQI, which means that all of the residents were asked to stay inside and limit their outdoor activities. The mere fact that the smoke was affecting other areas on the east coast had a lot of people looking for explanations. New York city was looking like they were going through Armageddon, smoke completely engulfed the city with dangerous air quality index above 200, orange skies, and confused residents.
